B is for Birds, Buzz, Betchkal, Bio:
As an experienced naturalist, I know where the buzz about birds is coming from. The treetops. The marshes. The prairies. The lakeshore or seashore. Montane. Sonoran. Tropical. This continent has it all, and that means birds.
Since “discovering” my first wild bird in 1969 (American Robin, what else?) I’ve blown across North America like a Selasphorus hummer before the prevailing westerlies. 42 states, 60 national wildlife refuges, and some 7 or 8 binoculars along, I’m at 600 different species seen – more if you count Mexico – and still learning to love and appreciate the diversity that birds embody.
